After 24 hours of traveling Nicholas and I arrived home late last night. Well, it wasn’t late in Virginia, but we were still on Spain time and it felt like 3 am to us! So many wonderful things happened in the two weeks we were away from home. My bachelorette party was fabulous, our wedding was absolutely perfect, and our honeymoon was amazing! (Wedding and honeymoon posts coming soon…) I can’t believe I went two weeks without the Poe Cat though! I missed him like crazy! Luckily, we were able to email the cat sitter and check in to see how he was doing.
Nicholas and I spent a fabulous NYE in Spain. We completely overlooked making a dinner reservation for the 31st, so we ended up going to the only grocery store open and having a picnic in our room. We had a great time and it was a perfect NYE dinner!
The tradition there is to eat 12 grapes (one for each month of the upcoming year) at midnight and make a wish as you eat each one. We opened a bottle of champagne at the hotel and took glasses of champagne, along with our grapes, to the town center for the midnight countdown. It was absolutely packed with people and so much fun!
2009 was a fabulous year and I have high expectations for 2010! Here are a few of my resolutions:
1. Get back to being a “real” person. Ok, so this is more of an after wedding resolution, but this is definitely the top of my list. I usually keep our home very clean and organized and I really enjoy making dinner for Nicholas and me, but the month before the wedding I basically stopped doing all of it. I was so busy with wedding, honeymoon, and traveling details (not to mention work) that I just couldn’t focus on anything else. It drove me crazy! I am so excited to get back to my usual organized routine!
2. Keep in touch better with friends. I love my friends and family, but sometimes I am really bad at keeping in touch with people. This year I really want to work on changing that.
3. Be healthier! I always try to cook healthy food, so I guess this goes along with my first resolution. I also really need to start exercising. I used to attend yoga classes several times a week in Florida, but didn’t look for a studio right away when I moved to Virginia so now I’ve completely stopped. Definitely need to start again! The husband is taking the USMLE Step 1 in April, when he finishes his second year of medical school, so yoga would be great for keeping his stress level down between now and then! I am also thinking about running. So many of my friends are into running and love it, but I just don’t know how to start! Any suggestions?
So glad to be back and Happy 2010!
