A Delightful Weekend

Monday, March 1, 2010

I hope everyone is having a wonderful first day of March! The husband and I had a relaxing weekend (well, he studied for most of it so maybe it wasn't so relaxing for him...) Saturday I did a little around the house and I got in a three mile run (which to me practically feels like a marathon). Yesterday was Purim (actually started Saturday night) so to celebrate I made Hamentashen cookies. The story of Purim is told in the book of Esther and I think Hamentashens are supposed to look like Haman's hat.

(I found the super cute green tray at Target this weekend. It only cost $2.50! Now I just need to find something to do with it...)

I used a recipe from a cookbook the husband bought me called Jewish Cooking Boot Camp: The Modern Girl’s Guide to Cooking like a Jewish Grandmother. It’s so much fun...and organized by holiday! I love it!

With Purim just behind us and all the Easter stuff out in stores I have been thinking that Passover is practically around the corner (which I cannot believe). Last year Nicholas and I hosted a seder for 18 people! It was crazy, but so much fun! Unfortunately, I completely forgot to take any pictures. (I’m actually pretty irritated with myself about it because I put so much time and energy into decorating and preparing for the seder!) Since I don't have any pictures I thought I'd share an inspiration board for last year's seder.
Passover
This year, with the husband taking the USMLE just a few days after Passover ends, we will be attending a seder rather than hosting one. I really love being the hostess, but it would just be too much to have it here days before he takes the exam!

I also did a little online shopping this weekend. I’ve been shopping like it’s my job lately (quite unfortunate that it's not)...but I totally blame all my shopping on the lingering winter weather! I just couldn’t resist these two fabulous buys!

Kate Spade Stevie Bag (from the sample sale last weekend)

Lilly Pulitzer Sherman Tunic in Turquoise Sea Urchin...60% off at Under the Palm Tree (a Lilly Pulitzer via store)!

BTW...I really appreciate all the support/advice on my weight struggles and indecisiveness about the CPA exam! Follow-up post coming soon...
