Mascara Opinions Wanted

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

I must say, mascara is by far my favorite makeup item. I don't really wear that much makeup (unless I have somewhere fun to go), but mascara is always a must! Lately, I've been feeling incredibly unsatisfied with my current mascara. What kind of mascara do you use?

I have been using DiorShow Blackout and until recently I've loved it! The last two tubes I've had seemed to get thick/old quicker than usual. I like sort of dramatic mascara (super black, lengthening) and I have no idea what else to try! Any recommendations?

I think it might be time for a new eyelash curler too. I feel like I never know what I'm looking for in an eyelash curler (is there something to look for?).

What eyelash products do you use?

  1. Oh I am most intrigued by this post as I feel like I have tried so many mascaras and never found "the one"! I am currently using Smashbox and it's eh, OK, but I am seriously looking for something with a little more UMPH! :)

    Great topic girly! xoxo

  2. I've always loved stila fiber optics mascara for when I needed oomph. however, it's been years since I've bought it, so if they still make it- give it a try!

  3. About a year ago I started using one of Clinique's mascaras, after I noticed how amazing it looked on a friend. It's the one that comes in a dark green tube- I'm really happy with it! And I thought I gave up on Clinique in early college!

  4. Well, right now I use Clinique, too because it doesn't burn my eyes...but if you find a good one (super-black/lengthening are my requirements, too!), I'd love to know. And I'm pretty happy with my Sephora curler. I've also heard good things about Laura Mercier but haven't tried it.

  5. If your looking for a dramatic lengthening mascara, I would highly recommend BAD gal lash by benefit. You can get it at Sephora or Ulta

  9. Shu Uemura eyelash curler and Smashbox DNA mascara are quite the combo.

  10. Mascara is something I *have* to wear everyday, regardless of whatever else I have on. I love, love, love YSL Singulier mascara. I do like Diorshow too, so sometimes I switch it up. But first and foremost YSL!

  11. I also use the Shu Uemura curler, and it makes a HUGE difference! It's much better than many other ones I've tried. I have DiorShow--both the regular and Blackout and have had similar experiences. I used to think they made my lashes look almost fake it was so great, but lately they've been clumpier/thicker. Maybe Dior changed the formula? I bought a mascara primer thinking that'd help, and in my opinion, was quite the waste. I still use it (since I have a TON left), but don't see a big difference in how thick and full my lashes are.

  12. I went through a 'I hate my mascara' thing back in the fall and a friend of mine swore by Maybelline's Colossal Mascara. I figured it was pretty cheap so if I hated it, at least I hadn't spent much. Turns out, I LOVE it! I recommend it!

SO many people have e-mailed me telling me they love it. I cannot recommend it highly enough and the price is very very low.

  15. I have yet to find a mascara that I love. Dior has really been disappointing me lately. I am kind of loving Cliniques mascara though

  16. I'm with Emily: I love Benefit Bad Girl mascara. I used to use that YSL mascara and Dior Show. I think both are overrated. Bad Girl is great.

  17. Victoria's Secret Exrta-lengthening mascara is AMAZING! if offers length and the brush is long and skinny which makes easy application! AND it's only $12!
