Today is the Big Day!!!

My husband is taking the USMLE Step 1 today! Please wish him luck :) He has been studying like a madman lately and I'm so proud of him...but I can't wait for this test to be over so we can actually spend time together again!

He left yesterday evening and drove to Richmond so he would already be there for the test this morning (which I think lasts for like 8 hours or something crazy!). Since Nicholas has been so busy lately, here's a little snapshot of my life right now...

I've been attempting to send Nicholas positive test-taking vibes by wearing fun, bright, happy colors! (Is that crazy?)

Today's Outfit:

I am on a serious Lucky Charms and Laffy Taffy (AKA Charms and LTs) streak lately. I don't really eat junk food...but these two are my downfall!

Last night I went to a super fun Junior League cottage meeting. It was a sewing class at a local fabric store (that I now love, but didn't know existed until yesterday)! We got to pick out two different fabrics and then used them to create a bag. I almost finished mine, but still need to sew a couple things before it's done. Here it is so far:

(That's the Poe Cat's toy Flamingo in the background...)

I'm on such a sewing kick lately! After my Fashion Friday tunic post last week I was feeling inspired and decided that I could sew a tunic. I bought a basic tunic pattern at Joann over the weekend, but I haven't done anything with it yet! I'm thinking this fabric would be fun though.

I'll let y'all know how (if) it turns out! Have any of you ever attempted something like this before?

I'm so anxious to hear from the husband about his test...I can't stand it! How do you keep yourself calm when you're anxious about something?!?

  1. Good luck to your husband! My husband is taking Step 1 at the end of June and the studying process is crazy! I know y'all will be happy when the test is over! I hope you have a very blessed and happy day! xoxo, KA

  2. Good luck with the tunic - I love the fabric!

  3. You are adorable - I love the idea of wearing bright colours for positive energy!
I had the same anxiety when my hubby was writing the Bar...I tried to distract myself with work and friends...but it's so difficult not to wonder!

  4. You are such a great little wifey to dress up cute for your hubby to spread the positive energy! I'm sure it's working! Best of luck Nicholas, we know YOU CAN DO IT!! Proud of you both, this is a big time in your lives!! XOXO Lots of love to you sweetie. Wish I could be there to take you out for a girly date to distract you!

  5. I absolutely adore tunics and probably purchased something like 15 last year! Dresses, shirts....oh I can't wait for summer!!!!!!!

If your beautiful and bright vibes make it down to Nicholas he'll be passing with flying colors for sure :)

  6. I think your plan of wearing bright colors to send off positive vibes is great- I think the same way! Cute cute outfits and I love that bag!

  10. Best of luck to your husband! Well, music is what keeps me calm and candles. Right now, I'm working, while the windows are open, candles are lit and John Mayer acoustic Free Falling is about perfect for a work day. :)
