Colored Contacts

I am nearsighted.  I have BCBG glasses that I love, but I don't wear them all the time (even though I should) because they don't always go with the 'look' I want for that day's outfit.  (Yes, I realize that sounds a little crazy...)  I had a thought the other night (as I was unsuccessfully attempting to fall asleep) that maybe I should get contacts....and if I do lilac would be such a fun color!

Is this a crazy?  I have no idea if I could actually even get myself to put a contact in my eye.  Do any of y'all wear contacts?  Have you ever thought about trying a fun color?

Lilly Pulitzer Fall 2010

The fall collection made it's debut online yesterday (at C. Orrico, Splash of Pink, and Ocean Palm)...so exciting!  I liked the summer collection, but it was full of warm colors (which I guess makes complete sense for summer) and I usually tend to gravitate more towards cool colors...except pink!  I am so excited for the Lilly fall color palette!  Love all the blues and greens!

There are so many cute tops, sweaters, pants, and skirts...but I am crazy about all the fabulous fall dresses!

I am also loving the addition of loungewear.   How comfy do these look?!

DIY Projects/Crafting

I was feeling a little crafty this weekend and decided to make a cover for Mason's crate.  It's sitting in our living room and let's face it...it's not the most aesthetically pleasing thing around.

I had some fabric left over after making the cover and I've been thinking the lampshade in our living room was in need of some serious snazzing up...so I decided to try covering it.

I am obsessed with diy projects and crafting...and I'm always looking for new ideas.  I think I've looked at just about every article in the craft section of Martha Stewart's website.  What websites/blogs do y'all look to for diy inspiration?

Just When I Thought I Couldn't Possibly Love Lilly Pulitzer More...

I discovered the Lilly Pulitzer Kappa Delta print!  I literally squealed out loud when I saw this one and ran downstairs to show Nicholas (who was nowhere near as excited as I thought he should have been...)!  I just purchased this pink and green beauty at the Kappa Delta boutique.  It ships August 1 and I cannot wait for it to arrive!

As an alum, it's such a fun way to wear my letters without looking like I wish I was still in college!  It looks like they made these lovely prints for four sororities.

I'm sure everyone has probably seen the rest of the Fall 2010 Sneak Preview they posted on Facebook...but since I'm in such a Lilly-loving mood (when am I not?) here are some of my faves!

I think those top two dresses may just end up on my must purchase list!  Hubs and I have two weddings to attend in Florida (in September and December) and it seems like a perfect excuse to buy a few new Lilly dresses!  That last picture is just too cute...and who doesn't need a pair of hot pink pants!

Blog Awards!

Several darling bloggers have been sweet enough to send a few blog awards my way and I am super late in passing them along!  Playing with our new little pup (and making sure to give Poe Cat lots of attention) has been taking up all my free time lately!

First,  thank you to two fabulous bloggers for giving me The Sugar Doll Award...Classic Annie and Beyond the Blue Ridge!

Ten things about me:

1. I am actually quite introverted. Nicholas is super extroverted and we balance each other well.

2. I really want a pair of Converse Jack Purcells.  I have no idea why.  

3. I wish I was a ballerina.  Ok, maybe I don't want to be a ballerina right now, but I really wish I had taken ballet as a little girl.

4. I have ADHD.  I am also a serious perfectionist. This combination can be quite frustrating at times.

5. I have a terrible sense of direction. I get lost and turned around so easily!

6. I can't wait to be a mother...but I'm terrified about having babies!  Lately I've had the strangest mix of baby fever/terror at the thought of getting pregnant.  Not that hubs and I are trying.  We want to have plenty of time to just have fun being married to each other before we add a baby into the mix.  (Plus, we've just added a new fur-baby to our family!) In the meantime, I've been thinking that reading  a baby book or two to try and get myself over my aversion to having a baby.  Does anyone know of any good baby books or have any advice on this?

7. I carry a little notebook around with me at all times.  I think of random things all day that I don't want to forget so I need a place to write them down!

8. I didn't really care for wedding planning. I knew I wanted something romantic with a vintage feel (and lots of green), but I refused to be one of those brides who looks stressed out about every detail from the moment they start planning until they leave the reception. When it came down to it all I really cared about was that Nicholas and I were getting married! I found this picture and gave it to my mother and wedding planner and sort of asked them to go with it. I okayed details, but I'm pretty sure without them I would still be trying to find a wedding location!

9. I really want to learn to play the piano. We had a piano growing up, but my mother didn't make us take lessons because she was forced to take them as a child and hated it.

10. I refuse to watch the news.  There are so many horrible things happening in the world, I just can't bear to hear about them all.

Crafty: I usually share my DIY attempts on my blog and I love finding other blogs with great DIY/craft projects.

Inquisitive: I have about a million random questions running through my head all day and I often ask for other people's opinions in my posts. 

Bright: I try to keep my blog bright and cheerful...and I love finding other cheerful, preppy blogs!

Our Newest Addition

Meet the newest addition to our family: Mason!

We've known we wanted to get a dog for awhile now and had been searching online, but neither of us had really found what we had in mind. I am a huge fan of adopting shelter dogs (and puppies!), but when I visited the SPCA in town last week and didn't find someone I loved I was feeling a little discouraged. Nicholas and I decided to try the SPCA in Staunton, VA (about 45 minutes away) on Saturday and just fell in love with this little pup! We couldn't take him home that day (we forgot to bring Poe Cat's rabies vaccination certificate!), so I picked him up bright and early (ok not really early, but right when they opened) on Monday morning. He's such a sweetie and FULL of energy!

He's 7 1/2 weeks old right now and so teeny! The lady at the SPCA told us they thought he would get to be about 40 or 50 lbs, but right now the Poe Cat is easily three times bigger than Mason! Poe Cat isn't too sure what to think of him. Mason bounces around and tries to play with Poe, but he isn't really having any of it. Poe Cat spends a lot of time just staring at Mason trying to figure out why he has so much energy!

Please ignore the fact that I'm making the same goofy face that I'm sure I made in several awkward elementary school class pictures.  Mason just looks so adorable in this one!  Look at those darling puppy eyes!

We definitely have our hands full with our new little pup right now! I took him for his first vet check up and it went really well. We're working on crate and potty training and it's super exciting, but so tiring! Does anyone have any puppy training tips/experience?

I have a couple blog posts that I've been meaning to write, but Mason has been keeping me pretty well occupied!  Several super sweet bloggers were nice enough to tag me for a couple blog awards that I will definitely be passing on soon and I have (yet another) mascara review to share with y'all.  You know I'm always on the hunt for an even better fabulously dramatic mascara!

Fashion Friday: Fifties Inspired Fall 2010!

My boredom with summer clothes is growing and I'm anticipating the arrival of fall lines!  Don't get me wrong, I adore the fun, bright summer colors.  It's just that I love putting together outfits and fall items usually have much more detail and lend themselves to being more creative.  The serious adoration I have for vintage fashion has me swooning over this fall trend...fifties-inspired!

How gorgeous are these Louis Vuitton ads!?  The vintage styling definitely feeds into my newly discovered Mad Men obsession!
