I've discovered something about New York in the summer...it's seriously hot! I know that seems like an obvious statement, and pretty stupid coming from someone who grew up in the South, but between no central a/c and walking pretty much everywhere I go it's like there's just no break from the heat. My usual summertime, super-casual running errands outfit of jeans, a tank, and a cardigan (perfect for going from my airconditioned home, to my airconditioned car, to whatever airconditioned place I was headed where I would most definitely be cold) is so not going to cut it here. I need to seriously increase the amount of shorts in my wardrobe. Luckily, there are tons of adorable summer shorts!

We're not in Virginia anymore. Ok, we've actually been in Brooklyn for about three weeks now. I can't wait to share more about Brooklyn, decorating our closet-sized apartment, and our new adventures here, but first I'm putting up a post that I meant to put up the day before we left Virginia. Moving drama (story to come) and then unpacking caused me to completely forget about it!
This is the first time in my life I'm having bittersweet feelings about moving to the next step. Byjunior year the end of high school I was so ready to leave for college I couldn't stand it. I loved FSU, but by the time my college graduation came around I was ready to be done and get to the next thing. There were no teary moments (that I remember) and nothing holding me back from my excitement about moving to Virginia. (Although I was really going to miss weekend brunch at the KD house)
A few days ago (after saying goodbye to our friends/super fab neighbors - they've moved back to Michigan for his residency) hubs and I stood in our semi-empty living room, held on to each other, and cried. (Ok Nicholas actually just got a little misty-eyed, but I seriously bawled) It was the first time the focus had switched from graduation excitement to actual goodbyes.
So much happened during our time in Virginia. We got engaged (just before I moved up) and married, watched friends get married (and then some have had babies), we adopted ourcrazy adorable Mason (and watched the Poe Cat try to figure him out), I finally think I figured out what I want to do when I grow up (not that I ever really plan on growing up too much), oh and on top of everything hubs is now officially a doctor! I'm sad to leave Virginia behind, but excited for everything to come.

I've missed my blog so much! (Is that silly?) Anyways - I'm so glad to be back!
